A Rover’s Story by Jasmine Warga is a heartfelt science-fiction novel about Resilience, a Mars rover built to explore another planet, and Sophie, the daughter of one of the scientists who helped create him. As Res learns, observes, and begins to understand connection in his own robotic way, the story explores what it means to be brave, curious, and more than what others expect you to be.
The book blends space exploration, friendship, science, courage, identity, family, and wonder. It has that “tiny robot with a massive mission and an unexpectedly big heart” feeling. 🤖
Best fit: Readers ages 8–12, especially kids who enjoy STEM, space, robots, emotional adventure, realistic science-fiction, friendship stories, and books with heart.
Content note: Includes loneliness, separation, mission danger, emotional stress, and questions about loss and purpose, but it is gentle and middle grade friendly.
