About Us

Reading Roots Co. was created around our own kitchen table, one reading assignment at a time.

When my child was in fourth grade, he was struggling with reading comprehension. His teacher encouraged us to ask questions about his reading homework each night, but I remember sitting there thinking, What questions should I even ask? I wanted to help him, but I needed support too. So I started creating simple worksheets, guided questions, and reading activities that gave both of us a way to slow down, talk about the story, and build understanding together.

What began as a way to help my own child has grown into Reading Roots Co., a collection of reading guides created for classrooms, homeschools, and family read-alouds. Our goal is to support teachers, parents, and young readers at every stage of the education journey with materials that make reading feel more approachable, meaningful, and connected.

Reading matters deeply. Nearly 70% of American fourth graders are not reading proficiently, and 40% are reading below basic levels. Those numbers are more than statistics. They represent kids who need confidence, families who need practical tools, and educators who need thoughtful support.
